What is A Temperature Control Valve

BCST is the best brand in manufacturing temperature control valves and various instruments that you can select according to your industrial application. It delivers every service in a detailed manner along with proper guidance. The whole team of BCST is highly-professional and ready to assist as much as you want. Below is the acceptable guideline about the temperature control valve, including its working principle, features, factors for the selection and much more.

What is a temperature control valve?

The temperature control valve is also known as a temperature regulator. They are the typical elements that help control the industry’s processes. The working of the temperature control valve is the same as the other type of control valve. Moreover, the difference is about controlling the temperature of the processes at a particular level. The temperature control valve is used to manage the temperature of the fluid present in the turbines, compressors and water of the engine jacket. You can differentiate the temperature control valve based on its number of ports. It shows that the temperature control valve, along with the two ports, is a 2-way temperature control valve and the 3 ports are a 3-way temperature control valve.

What is the working principle of the temperature control valve?

Structure of temperature control valve:

Before proceeding toward the working principle of the temperature control valve, it is essential to understand the structure of the temperature control valve. There are four main parts of the temperature control valve: sensor, source of power, medium for controlling and element for the temperature detection. The temperature sensor for sending the mechanical or electrical signals towards the actuator uses the element for detecting the temperature. Afterwards, the actuator uses the signal to apply to the power source to determine the position of the temperature control valve. The actuator has capillary tubing, adjustments and a power source.

Working principle of temperature control valve:

The temperature control valve works mechanically to measure the temperature. There is a filled bulb as the temperature sensor. Due to the thermal expansion properties of the materials, it also expands along with the rise of temperature. This expansion starts triggering stress on the actuator in terms of pressure. It changes the position of the temperature control valve on the regulator for controlling the flow rate of the coolant.

The temperature control valve uses two different structures for the controlling the temperature:

· Mixing of hot and cold process fluid:

In this structure, the setting of the hot and cold fluids is at different temperatures. You can name as Tx and Ty. You can set the temperature control valve in such a way that the fluid of the cold process permits the mixing of the fluid of hot process to receive the desired temperature. Here, you must make sure that fluids aren’t mixing or chemically reacting with one another. The installation of the sensor is at the fluid of hot process. After the measurement of the Ty, it is sending to the temperature of hot fluid processes towards the controller to send the point of Tx. Once, the sensor starts observing the changes, the temperature of hot water fluid surpasses the Ty. The temperature control valve permits the fluid of cold process mixing with the hot one until and unless to receive the required temperature.

· Exchanging the heat between the cold and hot processing fluid:

In this methodology instead of mixing of the fluids, there is exchange of heat between the hot and cold processing fluids. It shows that the energy from the cold fluid passes through the tube and hot fluid passes from the shell of the exchanger. Along with the transfer of energy, there is also rise of the temperature in the cold fluid as well as controlling by the temperature transmitter and sending to the temperature controller. Accordingly, the temperature controller sends the temperature control valve to stay open or close, dependent on the rise of the temperature. The temperature control valve keeps open and transfers the heat to achieve the required temperature.

How to control the quality of the temperature control valve?

In total, there are eight steps to control the quality of the temperature control valve:

  • Designing of the temperature control valve
  • Inspecting the raw materials to manufacture the high-quality temperature control valve
  • Machining of the products
  • Testing every spare part
  • Assembling all the parts
  • Inspecting the outlook of the temperature control valve
  • Conducting the hydrostatic test
  • Packing the final product and delivering it to the customers
