BCST check valves are simple devices acting as non-return valves. Flow can flow freely, but if the flow changes, the valve closes to protect piping, compressors, other valves, and pumps. They perform a vital function by preventing reverse flow and damage and ensuring efficient operation. Check valves are commonly installed in pipelines preventing backflow. Reverse flow can cause water hammer. This phenomenon can lead to repeated extreme overpressures in the piping, valves and connected pumps which can damage or cause a fatal rupture of the system and the associated piping. Even if a failure does not occur immediately, the repeated impact of a water hammer can promote fatigue and loss of system integrity.
