What’s the Explosion Proof Solenoid Valve

What's the explosion proof solenoid valve

BCST Group, founded in 2000, is a professional manufacturer of solenoid valves and the drafting unit of the national safety standard for fluid solenoid valves. Over the years, through the joint efforts of all staff, we have actively introduced advanced technology from Germany, Japan, and other countries and developed various new products to make the enterprise vibrant. As a result, we have also become one of the domestic manufacturers of solenoid valves with more varieties, specifications, large scale, and a high degree of specialization.

What's the Explosion Proof Solenoid Valve?

Solenoid valves are fundamental components of automation used to control fluids and are actuators. It is not limited to hydraulics or pneumatics. The solenoid valve controls the direction of the flow of hydraulic pressure. Hydraulic cylinders generally control the factory mechanical devices, so solenoid valves are used.

An explosion-proof solenoid valve is equipment that may ignite the explosive gas mixture of all the parts enclosed in a shell. Its shell can withstand any joint surface or structural gap through the cover, penetrating the internal combustible mixture in the internal explosion without damage. And it does not cause the ignition of an explosive environment formed by one or more gases or vapors outside. The parts that may generate sparks, arcs, and dangerous temperatures are placed inside the explosion-proof housing. Explosion-proof enclosures isolate the internal space of the equipment from the surrounding environment. However, there are gaps in the explosion-proof housing due to the breathing action of electrical equipment and gas penetration, so the internal explosive gas mixture may exist.

What is the role of the explosion-proof solenoid valve?

The explosion-proof solenoid valve coil shell not only has the role of explosion-proof to withstand the pressure of the gas explosion, and the gas explosion energy transfer has a blocking effect. Therefore, it has a higher safety performance. It is specially designed to transmit flammable and explosive media or special solenoid valve series dedicated to explosive hazardous places. We should choose solenoid valves with different explosion-proof ratings in different environments and fluids.

What is the working principle of the explosion-proof solenoid valve?

The explosion-proof solenoid valve has a closed cavity. And there are openings in different locations, and each hole leads to another oil pipe. In the middle of the cavity is the valve. On both sides are two electromagnets; which side of the magnet coil is energized and will attract the valve body to which side. It is controlled by the movement of the valve body to stall or leak the different holes for oil discharge. While the inlet hole is always open, the hydraulic oil will enter the other discharge pipes and then push the piston of the cylinder through the pressure of the oil. It makes the piston drive the piston rod, which will drive the mechanism to move. It controls the mechanical movement by controlling the current of the solenoid.

What are the advantages of explosion-proof solenoid valves?

  1. Explosion-proof solenoid valve has a long working life.
  2. There are three types of explosion-proof solenoid valve working systems. They are divided into a long-term working system, a repeated short-time working system, and a short-time working system three. Explosion-proof solenoid valves are long-term working systems. That is, the coil allows long-term energized work. For a long-time valve open only for a short time, it is appropriate to use a normally open solenoid valve. Special orders can be made to reduce power consumption in the short time working system and a large batch.
  3. Explosion-proof solenoid valve working frequency requirements, the structure we should prefer direct-acting solenoid valve, it should select the power supply to AC.

How do we understand the explosion-proof rating of solenoid valves?

The explosion-proof rating standard in China is “GB3836.1-2000 Electrical equipment for explosive atmospheres”. This standard will be supplemented or modified by the following explosion-proof type-specific criteria.

GB 3836.2 Electrical equipment for use in explosive atmospheres Part 2: Explosion-proof type “D.”

GB 3836.3 Electrical equipment used in explosive atmospheres, part 3: safety-enhancing type “E.”

GB 3836.4 Electrical equipment for use in explosive atmospheres Part 4: Intrinsically safe type “I.”

GB 3836.5 Electrical equipment used in explosive atmospheres Part 5: Positive pressure type “P.”

GB 3836.6 Electrical equipment used in explosive atmospheres Part 6: Oil-filled type “O.”

GB 3836.7 Electrical equipment used in explosive atmospheres Part 7: Sand-filled type “Q.”

GB 3836.9 Electrical equipment used in explosive atmospheres, Part 9: Cast-in type “M.”

GB 7957 Safety helmet lamps for mining use

The above standards do not apply to medical electrical equipment, detonators, and ignition circuit testers.

The standard symbol is “EXD Ⅰ/Ⅱ BT3.”

“EX” is a common symbol for EXPLOSIVE.

“D” means that the secondary explosion-proof type is “Explosion-proof D.”

“Ⅰ” or “Ⅱ” indicates the classification of electrical equipment.

Ⅰ is electrical equipment for coal mines. Ⅱ for other equipment for explosive atmospheres other than coal mines.

Class II explosion-proof “D” and intrinsically safe “I” electrical equipment are divided into Class IIA, IIB, and IIC.

“T3” indicates the temperature group.
